The monument was unveiled in 1925 and originally stood on the Hus embankment. A whole sculptural group was located there, including figures of George of Poděbrady, Jan Žižka of Trocnov, a German crusader, and the Lord of Rožmberk. These statues were, however, removed during World War II, and the statue of Master Jan Hus was later moved to the Renner Gardens.
