The Church of St. Markéty is considered a landmark of the city. It was built between 1580 and 1583 in the late Gothic and Renaissance style. Originally, a hospital chapel already stood here in the 13th century. The house of worship, dedicated to Saint Margaret of Antioch, served various guilds and religious groups. The church was rebuilt several times over the course of time, undergoing Baroque changes and repairs after floods and fires. Today it is a Roman Catholic parish church.
