Weesenstein Castle rises on a rocky outcrop of mica slate with quartzite deposits above the Müglitz valley about 3 km south of Dohna in the Weesenstein district of the Müglitztal municipality.

Below the castle there are paid parking facilities as well as a castle restaurant and a café.
Around the castle there are wonderful hiking trails along the Müglitz but also in the beautiful forest area directly adjacent.
