The Marienkirche in Dohna is a very beautiful Gothic building with impressive vaults. In the High Middle Ages the church became a pilgrimage site recommended by the papal. The Marienkirche was built between 1212 and 1250, the founders of the church are not the Dohna burgraves, but the margraves of Meissen, who became the liege lords of the church after the fall of the Dohna castle (1402).

Unfortunately the church was locked and we couldn't get in. The St. Mary's Church in Dohna is a three-nave late Gothic hall church and was consecrated in 1489. Some sandstone reliefs have survived from the Romanesque predecessor building from the 13th century, such as the one above the main portal on the south side. The Romanesque church was destroyed in 1402 during the siege of Dohna Castle.
