The Scheeßel local history museum, founded in 1913, now consists of two courtyards with a total of 13 historic half-timbered buildings. Old handicrafts are on display at the Meyerhof in the center of Scheeßel. Among other things, a blueprinting and weaving mill can be visited there. Changing exhibitions can be seen in the Kunstgewerbehaus, a gallery that first opened in 1908.

On the Heimathaus site, approx. 300 m away, the rural living and working world of the 19th century is shown. In its diversity, this site embodies a living museum of long-forgotten times. All equipment will be used and demonstrated.
