The Scheeßel local history museum, founded in 1913, today consists of two courtyards with a total of 13 historical half-timbered buildings. At the Meyerhof, located in the center of Scheeßel, old crafts are shown. There, among other things a blueprint and weaving mill can be visited. Changing exhibitions can be seen in the Kunstgewerbehaus, a gallery first opened in 1908.
The rural living and working world of the 19th century is shown on the home building, approx. 300 m away. This area embodies in its diversity a living museum of times long forgotten. All equipment is used and demonstrated.
