This leads to the start of the muddy classic descent into Birley Brook. Don't be put off by the Private Road and big electric gates to Birley Farm, there is a small side gate and public access is still maintained across a field to the top of the muddy descent.

There is now (July 21) a new, additional side gate to allow you to by-pass the big electric gates and access via the driveway rather than cutting across the field.
