@Greg©️ Sounds Like you had an absolute blast mate, great pictures and no surprises it's been sloppy out on the trails, i'm not shocked about the amount of standing water over near Rother Valley as it's quite low lying around the Rother but it's been a while since I saw that amount, as it's on my doorstep

Another chance to forage some Rat's Ears, plentiful at the moment in the damp woodland. Mild & not raining it's so nice walking on the mulched Autumn leaves through the wet woodland. Very slippery where there are no leaves, the streams are running nice and full again. Reaquainting myself with the River Rother, the source being in the area, North Wingfield Nature Reserve is sandwiched between the river & the railway line.

Magical in the woods, pleasantly warm, misty & moist, foraging for Rat's Ear mushrooms a popular and indispensable ingredient in Chinese cuisine, considered a delicacy and a medicinal food. Always great watching Doggies having fun.

Dry & bright day, fairly mild but very wet and sloppy, no claggy stuff. A different challenge riding along and through streams of water and getting traction up slopes. Brilliant fun, warm & dry under waterproof socks, trousers and jacket, mud flying everywhere, bike slipping about underneath. Some cracking good woodland trails in, around, over & through the rivers Moss & Rother and their tributaries.

Dry, mild & bright day, the worst of the rainwater has flowed away and the streams are running mid-full. Plenty of wet & slop about, thankfully no claggy stuff on this route. Mellow start through The Avenue Washlands, Chesterfield and the Holmebrook Valley up to Linacre, all off-road. The classic Linacre North Loop and back via Walton Dam, Wingerworth Woods and the fun descent of Bolehill Woods With the correct togs on it's just fantastic, a few fallen trees spoiling some of the runs but also adding variety manhandling the bike over/through them!

Bright Sunshine burned off the morning fog to leave a cold & beautiful day for a ride around some of Clumber Park's more obscure singletrack delights. Well togged up to contend with the ever plentiful mud & puddles, once you're acclimatised it's great fun. My customary pause in Wellbeck Holloway, the canyon always amazes and catches the afternoon sun to make a splendid photo. Then crossing the Northern tip of "The Great Lake" which is otherwise hidden away inside the Private Welbeck Estate.

Another Bright & Sunny, cold Winter ride, but this time all the mud has thawed, so a lot more tricky, slippy/slidy, splishy/sploshy. My regular classic fun loop around Belper with the sensational descents of Longwalls Lane, The Chevin & Jacksons Lane. This time I added a loop venturing onto the technical tracks in Shining Cliffs Wood, Jackass Descent was a taste of things to come, very slippery, wet & muddy roots & rocks all partly obscured by the Autumn leaves. Hard to see the narrow trail along the Shining Cliff which then became Type Two Fun on the steep, muddy & slippery descent through the Wood.

Bright & Clear, Sunny & Cold, most of the muddy bits were solidified (not all), another Bangin' ride through the woodland around Mansfield. Starting in Thieves then Cauldwell Woods, some off-road paths and the Mansfield Way took me into Clipstone Forest and a blast around Pines Red "Outlaw Trail" with a bit of Blue "Robin Hood" to exit into Strawberry and Harlow to complete the loop. Hardly anybody about, nice and warm & dry wearing the correct clobber for the conditions, absolutely fabulous!

Highfields Lake is a Hidden Gem, tucked away on the Nottingham University Campus. Next door to the equally beautiful, but much more famous, Wollaton Hall Lake. Fully accessible during the day this makes a splendid addition to a walk around Wollaton Hall Deer Park & Gardens. Lots of Deer to be seen around Wollaton, quite happy to stroll about on the Golf Course, they are more used to the public and not as timid as other Wild Deer

Glorious Sunshine and some splishy-splashy mud on a crisp November afternoon. Sherwood Forest a carpet of leaves, from Clumber Park to Sherwood Pines. A blast along the fast part of the Robin Hood Trail and onto the new (2024) section "Flashhearts Foley" in the South of the Forest. Then looping back through Strawberry Hill and finishing with the trails through Boon Hills Wood and Warsop Vale around the former site of the colliery, back to Clumber

Luscious Loop around Mansfield enjoying the Fabulous Forests of Nottinghamshire. Alluring Autumn colours on a mild November day, there's some mud about and it's a bit slippy-slidey in spots. Including a portion of Pines Blue in Clipstone and another ravishing run through my favourite Thieves & Harlow. Unlike the Peaks there's no livestock in the forests and hence not a single gate to stop and open/close, I did startle one or two Bambis and there's kazillions of kamikaze squirrels darting out in front of you.
