A change from my default woodland type walk, this time mostly out in the open. Down some very steep steps to the hermit's cave & the abbey "ruins" although it seems only one large, end window is left standing and that's been repaired. The very steep steps can be avoided by taking the lower route along…

Nice & easy local trails gravel ride on the hottest day of the year so far. The crunch of the gravel and the twittering of the birds is quite theraputic.
The singletrack link paths are getting overgrown now, long sleeves & trousers despite the weather.
Brassinton Lane is currently fenced off (blocked…

West Wood is a small ancient woodland with a brook running through it and lots of paths to explore. Next door to Ringwood Hall, there's also a small lake to walk around with a Heron busy fishing.
This time of year, the Bluebells have gone to seed and the Ferns & Brambles start to take over.

One of my favourite local MTB Loops. The West side has two fandabidozi long descents. The brilliant Longwalls Lane and then the Midshires Way/North Road/Jackson's Lane combo running alongside the Chevin Vale Golf Course. Just the right amount of technical to be fast, safe & fun!

Lots of lovely singletrack through woodland, crossing over or under the M1 Motorway four times in different places.
The first section through High Park Wood has a more challenging line to enjoy, following the brook, off the main bridleway.
Towards the end of the ride, there are some deeply rutted sections…

Nice steady ride from The Avenue up through Holmebrook Valley Country Park for a play in Cobnar Wood. Then a gravel bridleway climb to the wacky curly bridge over the by-pass.
On the other side there's a small DH Dirt Jump area for some more MTB fun before the fast gravel descent down to Chesterfield…

Upper Lumsdale wood is a terrific place to walk, ancient quarries, roots, rocks, cliffs , elevation & views amongst the trees . The wood is very small, but if you follow the Bentley Brook down the valley you will find the waterfall & mill ruins.
Currently access to the actual waterfall & mill ruins is…

Cobnar Wood really is a super-duper little hidden Gem. I have never been here before so it was a surprise to find such a great place for a woodland walk. Old trees and young trees, paths of all shapes & sizes, masses of Bluebells (April/May) and a beautiful Brook.
Small wood near an industrial area and…

I decided to get the incline and lengthy climb to the Trig out of the way first and then enjoy the long, rocky downhill to the MTB Mecca of Black Rocks. Lots of lines here, the ones below the fireroad are super steep, for me a case of seeing how slow I could go downhill with my dropper fully down & both…

Another exhilarating ride at Llandegla on the hard, stoney all weather, feature filled, Red & Black Trails. There is still a short diversion at the start of the Golden Trail, onto the Blue as the trail builders are hard at work.
"Dave the Fox", despite now riding through only tree stumps, is a great flowing…
