The area between the city wall and the "Bache", as the people of Bietigheim called the Metter, was constantly threatened by flooding. To ensure that they could still get into their houses, the residents built small bridges from the flood-proof Zwinger to the upper floor. The bridges are connected by the Hexenwegle.

The Hexenwegle leads along a narrow, cobbled path past the old bakery and an old painted tower stump of the former city wall. The special thing about the Hexenwegle are the flood bridges on the right-hand side. Small bridge entrances were built so that the residents could get into their houses even during floods. Some of the houses along the Hexenwegle are decorated with witch figures.
