The Schochenturm, like the Waldhornturm, was built around 1220. The tower received the name Schochenturm from a former tower keeper named Schoch. There is a tower keeper's apartment at the top.
The stone house next to it, with its imposing, forbidding gable, is connected to the tower by the arch of the town gate. It is the former palace of the castle.
