The market square with the town hall is surmounted by the uneven towers of the Marktkirche. The great importance of the market well is obvious: it marks the center of the market place and thus of the city, it is crowned by the landmark Goslar, the eagle.

The thousand-year-old city of Goslar is an eventful destination for a city trip and is also located in beautiful nature directly on the Harz. Its special flair and its cultural treasures make the imperial city a magnet for many visitors from near and far. Impressive sights, churches and museums are a special experience (not only) for culture enthusiasts, but also those who just want to relax on holiday are in the right place in Goslar. The unique atmosphere in the narrow streets or on the lively market square with its cafes invites you to stroll and enjoy.

Very nice old town with many historical buildings, especially the Kaiserpfalz.
There are a lot of cafes in the pedestrian zone to linger.

The market square is the central square in the historic old town of Goslar. Numerous important buildings adjoin it. Probably the most important of these is the town hall, built in the Gothic style, which houses the representative tribute hall with its magnificent paintings inside. Another striking building is Kaiserworth, built in 1494, the former guild hall of the cloth merchants. This richly decorated house was intended to showcase the wealth and influence of the Goslar citizens. Today it houses a hotel and a restaurant.

The old town of Goslar, which is still largely surrounded by ramparts and green spaces, is one of the most important closed historical cities in the world Century. The charming cityscape with its narrow streets is dominated by the mighty towers of the Romanesque church. In addition to these, the imperial palace, the town hall and the city fortifications, the hospitals and the large number of medieval stone houses, the so-called kemenaten, dating back to the 12th century, are of great charm.

Due to its special state of preservation with over 1500 half-timbered houses from different epochs, which are located in the old town center within the former city wall, the old town of Goslar has been awarded by UNESCO. Imposing structures, picturesque alleys and historical buildings give the old town a special atmosphere. Goslar's old town reflects the history, tradition and modernity of bygone times.

The rich history of the city can be experienced at every turn. B. when strolling through the narrow cobblestone streets or an entertaining city tour. Diverse events and places to stroll, shop and enjoy invite you to linger.

After 5 hours of hiking, the last 2 of them in the pouring rain, I was looking forward to Goslar. Excellent old town, which you can see its ambience despite the bad weather. As I knew Goslar from previous visits, I went straight to the train station. After 30
Days of hiking from Rügen to Goslar via Potsdam I finally wanted to go home to my family. Unfortunately, there are no longer any toilets on the railway site. Changing after the rainy weather is only possible in the hall in front of an amazed audience.
