The bank green strip begins at the Maschsee weir, where the Leine divides into two river arms. An arm of the river known as the “Schneller Graben” branches off the Leine to the west and, after a short walk, joins the Ihme, Hanover's second river. The Ihme then runs several kilometers further north to the Leinedreieck. There the Ihme and the Leine coming from the city center meet again. The merged river then continues west in a left curve under the name Leine. This green area ends at the Herrenhausen weir and behind it the Mittlere Leineaue begins.
The banks of the Leine and Ihme are continuously accessible to pedestrians and cyclists from the Maschsee weir to the Herrenhausen weir, and the entire length is greened on both sides. The only exception is the bank at the Ihmezentrum. You can follow the park-like green zone along the course of the river without interruption on the cycle paths and sidewalks that run along the banks. The crossing of the rivers as well as the crossing under the streets are made possible by a large number of bridges.
Striking for the banks of the Leine and Ihme are the many meadows on the banks, the old trees and the unspoilt nature of the meadow vegetation in many places. The park designs are sometimes less and sometimes more noticeable. In addition, the green strip along the Leine and Ihme is a floodplain, so that the riverside park area is temporarily flooded and inaccessible during floods.
The Leine and Ihmeufer is very lively, especially in the warm seasons, and attracts many people. There is a barbecue and picnic on the lawns. The riverside park is not only used for walking, cycling and jogging, there are also many rowers and canoeists who are out and about on the rivers.

The Ihme center divides minds. There are those who say it's a very nice project and there are others who think it's ugly and bulky. You should give the Ihme Center the opportunity to present yourself in good weather and from the beautiful side (Leine Park).

Some like it and others don't find it so nice. It's just a matter of taste.😉
