In 1622, the village of Krasnoye, along with numerous surrounding villages, was granted by Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich to Prince Ivan Petrovich Buinosov-Rostovsky. A 1628 land registry lists a wooden church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village. It was stated that the church was built by the village's owner, Prince Buinosov-Rostovsky.
In the second half of the 17th century, the village of Krasnoye was again listed as a sovereign palace village. It housed the "sovereign's court," where the governors lived, and contained 62 peasant and peasant households. By 1678, the village already had two wooden churches: one dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Holy Mother of God with a side chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (cold), log-built "in corners," and another dedicated to St. Alexis the Man of God (warm). Next to the churches stood a bell tower "cut into octagonal shapes with a tented roof."
In 1708, a single stone church was built to replace the two wooden ones, funded by the Gorokhovets merchant Shiryaev. The bell tower was built at the same time as the church. In 1817, the walls of the cold church were raised by a lintel to 3 arshins, and since then, the church's exterior has remained essentially unchanged; its interior decorations, however, have been renovated several times.
