It was presumably built around 1902 by I.A. Shorin, a prominent Gorokhovets entrepreneur and Old Believer, for his son. Ivan Shorin worked for a long time at the firm "Construction Office of Engineer A.V. Bari."
He is also considered the founder of the Gorokhovets Shipyard. The shipyard operated until the late 1990s and played a major role in the development of Gorokhovets during the Soviet period.
Ivan Shorin built this house for the family (his wife Anastasia, Semyon Ivanovich Semenychev's eldest daughter, and four sons) of his son Mikhail.

The architect Yury Bruni is believed to have designed this wooden merchant's mansion, built in the early 20th century in the style of Russian wooden Art Nouveau.
