The Danube is a central element for the city of Ulm, historically known as an important trade route (navigable from here due to the confluence of the Iller and Blau rivers) and the home of the famous "Ulmer Schachteln" (Ulm boxes), which were used for emigration; today it shapes the cityscape with leisure activities such as walks, canoeing and the Danube Swabian Central Museum, but swimming is at your own risk due to the dangers.
