On August 14, 1872, the Martin Luther Church was ceremoniously inaugurated as the first Protestant church in the spa town. The construction of a Protestant church in the diaspora was closely related to the growing number of guests in Bad Neuenahr. It was less the expanding number of Protestant believers in Neuenahr that made this building necessary, but rather the situation, which was perceived as intolerable, that the distinguished spa guests had to celebrate their services not in a church, but in provisionally prepared secular halls. Gustav Adolf Pliester, a Protestant pastor in the up-and-coming Bad Neuenahr from 1869 to 1907, was one of the outstanding personalities of his time in the town, alongside spa directors and doctors. He chose the location of the Martin Luther Church - in the center of the spa town and near the spa hotels and spa park. Source: aw-wiki.de/index.php/Evangelische_Martin-Luther-Kirche_Bad_Neuenahr

The original neo-Gothic church building from 1872 was completely redesigned inside and out in 1958 according to plans by the Trier architect Heinrich Otto Vogel.
This simple, bright, friendly and beautiful church is a very successful example of modern church building, in which the old building was very well integrated.
