The city's tourist offerings have been enriched by the development of Salt Square as a museum and tourist complex, where salt was extracted during the Turkish occupation. The remains of the main salt source used during the Turkish occupation are protected and can be visited here.
The focal point of Salt Square is the fountain, a gift from the city of Ravenna. This fountain, shaped like a stylized Neolithic salt cauldron, is decorated with mosaics by the Instituto d'Arte Severini and the world-renowned mosaicist Felice Nittola.
