Throughout the centuries, Kampenhout played an important role within the Duchy of Brabant (Hoofdmeierij Campenhout). Over time, numerous castles and manors were built. Some of these still exist today and are regularly open to the public, for example on Open Monument Day.
Ten Opstal Castle in focus:
Originated as the manor "Obstalle," dependent on the fief of Ukkel. Originally a tenant farm, it acquired its current form through numerous renovations. In the 16th and 17th centuries, it was owned by the t'Serclaes family. Now it is a castle with a wide, partially filled-in moat, inhabited by the Vanderkelen family.

Castle restored in neo-traditional style around 1906, surrounded by an estate of approximately 3.5 hectares, with a partially walled vegetable garden and a landscaped park of approximately 2.5 hectares laid out in 1908; traces of an old ring moat and a symmetrical landscaped garden from the early 19th century.
