A paradise for water birds and for hikers. That is how you can describe the Mechels Broek. The marsh used to be part of the natural flood plain of the Dijle and with its 100 hectares of wet grasslands it is still a popular resting and feeding place for water birds. In the spring you can spot bluethroats, reed warblers or garganeys from the observation huts, in the autumn you will find ospreys and harriers. Even in the winter, the Mechels Broek seems like an international airport for birds.
