      Open Road Stone

In 1815 the border between France and Germany was drawn through the country. The families and friendship ties, however, spanned the border. Torn by the two world wars, they were knotted again and again by the people on both sides of the border in times of peace. A commemoration of this was set at the suggestion of the Beruser author and culture prize winner of the Saarlouis district, Gerhard Tänzer, as a counterpart to the earlier delimiting national emblems of the "stone of the open road". It was officially inaugurated on July 28, 2000. The stone bears the inscription: "from me to you - to me from you" / "de moi à toi - à moi de toi" and is an expression and symbol for the warm bond between Germans and French at the border, which is no longer today separates, but connects, with people who understand each other, in places that have a common history. He makes it clear that there is a common home on both sides of the border. Source: Text information board

He carries the inscription: "from me to you - to me from you" / "de moi à toi - à moi de toi"
Nice idea: connect and not disconnect.
