Located on the border of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood and the Latin quartier, the Jardin du Luxembourg is inspired by the Florentine Boboli Garden. It was created at the initiative of Queen Marie de Médicis in 1612. The surface of the garden and its 25 hectares is divided into two: one part in the French style and the other in the English style. Between the two stretches a geometric forest and a large pond. You can also see an orchard with -among many others- some old and forgotten varieties of apple trees, a beehive to learn about beekeeping, greenhouses with an incredible and amazing collection of orchids and a rose garden. The garden has 106 statues scattered throughout the park, the monumental Medici fountain, l'Orangerie and the Davioud pavilion.
