The Conciergerie becomes one of the most important prisons during the French Revolution with the installation of the Revolutionary Court. His most famous prisoner was Marie Antoinette. During the Restoration a memorial chapel was installed in his cell.

Hiking

The building has been used as part of the judiciary since the 14th century. Before and especially during the revolution, it was used as a prison, it was over 2700 death sentences were made there, including against Marie Antoinette, Georges Danton and Maximilien de Robespierre. In an interior, all 2780 people are thought to have been sentenced to death. The last famous prisoner was Napoleon III.
