The consumer building, designed by Walter Gropius in 1928, became a center of the Törten settlement due to its location, height and function.
The two structures – a low-rise building and a five-storey house – appear to have been pushed into one another. Their proportions are extremely elegantly coordinated. Unlike the settlement houses, the tall building was constructed in plastered brickwork, the low building as a reinforced concrete construction. The light paint contrasts with the black balcony railings and window profiles.

Many people would like to see such centers in all residential areas again today. A place to meet modern apartments and to buy groceries that are as fresh as possible every day. The Bauhaus concept and its implementation still look modern today. I think a return to this is worth striving for.
