Kasteel Oost (originally Oys) was originally an enclosed tower house dating from around 1200. From 1357 onwards, it was the seat of a lordship (without sovereignty) belonging to the County of Dalhem and subordinate to the court of 's-Gravenvoeren. In 1365, the castle was destroyed but later rebuilt.
