The Berwijn Valley, 14 hectares in size, is home to very vulnerable and unique fauna and flora. The area is therefore protected as a Habitats Directive area. The special inhabitants of the valley cross your path everywhere. Oaks, hornbeams and many spring bloomers grow on the calcareous slopes. The most famous resident of the Voer region, the timid badger, also leaves its mark: the underground badger castles show that it likes it here.

Here, at the Moelingen mill and the large car park on Voerstraat where you can start your walk through the Berwijn valley, you are immediately at the river.

And you don't have to go far to enjoy it. After all, there is a lawn at the car park. Moreover, the bridge that leads to the sunken road on the other side of the Berwijn, just like the sunken road itself, offers beautiful views. And you can go to the water.
Towards the centre of Moelingen, within walking distance, there are also brand new benches on the bank (at the bridge) since the widening of the Berwijn, which sometimes causes flooding. These widenings also created beautiful new spots and are very recent.

The Berwijn, which is also called the Berwien in Limburgish, which is more like the French name of the river, runs between Liège and Maastricht. Two of its tributaries have also given their names to several places in the land of Herve, the Bel and the Bolland.

In the vicinity of an ice cream shop, which will open its doors first in April.
