The scaffold - the word comes from the French and means "blood scaffold" - is round and built of stone. Seven steps lead to the pedestal, which is said to have been the place of execution of Calw until 1818.In the past, the "witches" were burned or beheaded here. And it is said that the spirits of the innocent dead are still haunting here. On the 1.70 meter high and 5.80 meter wide, accessible scaffold is a 55 centimeters high and 46 centimeters wide wooden stake, in which a sword is inserted. At the scaffold there is not only a bench but also a bird's nest swing, where you can rest well. There is also an interesting information board that tells a story about a robber killer.

    Retirement place retired.
The last execution took place here in 1818. A large information board provides detailed information. For the not so awesome is directly opposite a bird's nest swing 🤪

This is the "real" scaffold from the Middle Ages. Creepy but worth a visit!

Read the gruesome story of jurisdiction and how it works on the board. For education, students were forced to witness executions.

Here you can re-enact how such a cruel beheading felt. Nice photo opportunity. Fortunately, the last execution was long ago (1818).

The Calwer scaffold is now just an eye-catcher for walkers - a place of execution in retirement. The last execution took place here in 1818 due to a court decision with great participation of the population.
In addition to the scaffold, there is a monkey swing for children.

Very nice photo backdrop. Best of all with three or two people with a tripod. Then one can put his head on it and the other hold the sword xD.
