List West Lighthouse

The official names of the two lighthouses in the north of Sylt are: "List-West" and "List-Ost" - making them the northernmost lighthouses in Germany. For about 14 nautical miles, the lighthouses show the ships the right course.

The white lighthouse List West on the elbow was built by the Kingdom of Denmark and is not only the northernmost lighthouse, but also the northernmost building in Germany. It is also the oldest lighthouse on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and the first made of cast iron lighthouse in Germany.

Nice lighthouse (actually I like every lighthouse). There is a parking lot on the nearby road (private road, 6 euro toll as of 08/2019), ideal as a starting point for a hike or a walk. After the transition over the dune you will find a beach with wonderfully fine sand. Bathing is forbidden because it is life-threatening because of the current.
