In the heart of Goes, right next to the Grote Kerk (St. Mary Magdalene Church), you'll find the Historical Museum De Bevelanden. The museum is housed in a historic monument – built at the end of the 15th century, along with the adjacent Manhuis (Manhuis), as a convent for the Black Sisters.
The museum showcases the history of the Bevelanden in all its facets through a broad collection. Besides 17th-century civic guard portraits and an unparalleled collection of regional costumes from Zeeland, you'll find archaeological material from Roman times, rare silverware from the craft guilds, historical samplers, and paintings from the 17th to the 21st centuries.
