This port was once the economic heart of the city of Goes. During the heyday of the 15th and 16th centuries, the Old Port contained more than 100 salt chains. During these golden years, the city of Goes supplied a quarter of the Netherlands with their salt needs.
Now there is still trade going on, but in a sweeter way. Owners of eateries allow day trippers to enjoy this photogenic location to everyone's taste. Enjoying the waterfront together, fun.

The Stadshaven of Goes is the former port of the city of Goes and has been in use as a passenger port since 1974. The harbor is located in the center and is connected to the Oosterschelde National Park via the Goese Sas.
The quay walls of the city harbor are a national monument. Around the city harbor are historic houses, including 't Soepuus, a former tidal water mill. The names of a few streets around the Stadshaven recall the historical significance of a few products that were of great importance to the Goese economy, namely Bierkade and Turfkade. It is a tradition that Sinterklaas arrives in the city harbor of Goes.
