Southport beach really does boast some of the most amazing views of the coast.

With long sandy beaches and a coast-line that stretches 22 miles across Sefton, you can soak up the panoramic view of golden sands and admire the beauty of the coast!

Southport beach has one of the most unique natural environments in the country.

The resort’s beach is home to many thousands of wading birds returning from their northern breeding grounds at the end of the summer

The crown of Southport, Southport beach is part of 22 miles (35 km) of the Sefton Coast. The beach's golden sands have been popular for over a century. In fact, the oldest iron pier in the country was built here in 1860. The beach is home to many species of wildlife which live amongst the sand dunes, ponds and reed beds. There are plenty of cafes and ice cream shops to stop for some much needed energy.

A nice destination from Crosby Baths car park (free). 14 miles along the Sefton Coastal path with short diversions through Hightown, past Altcar Training Camp, Formby, Woodvale Aerodrome, Ainsdale Forest and finally arriving in Southport on Marina Drive. Plenty of scenery to keep you amused until you leave Ainsdale on the coastal path to Southport....straight, bumpy tarmac with sand dunes either side. If you don't fancy the 28 mile round trip from Crosby then Ainsdale is a 22 mile trip with MeCycle coffee and bike repair shop just over the railway line.
