About Pat
July 2024

I have had my first bike ride.
I fit The Swytch Kit to my hybrid and I am now setting up some rides to build strength and stamina slowly

I had three hearts attacks whilst out on a 20 mile off roader in August 2022
If had a tick list of 100 things that could happen to me "heart attacks" would NOT have been on it.
I was treated to a triple bypass operation in October 2022
I got back to the Gym in February 2023. However i was warned NOT to ride my bike. I was absolutely gutted, my bike is my happy place. I cried like a baby

If things couldn't get any worse in 2023 Well They DId. I was diagnosed with "Heart Failure"

However it is July 2024, I have converted my much love Boardman Hybrid into an E-Bike. Wow please don't knock them. I am back off roading and even some road rides.

My message to any and all of you beautiful people DO NOT GIVE UP

Thank you Komoot.com for a brilliant app I love it to bits

A lovely meander around York today. We went to see the Van Gogh exhibition in the old St Martin Le Grand a mainly 15th Century church Had hot mulled wine in the Three Tuns. Tuns. most commonly refers to large casks for liquids or a historic unit of volume We also had to take a look at the Minster. There is still a large amount of scaffolding and covering on the outside

A very nice but chilly day around the dam. Not much wildlife to photograph. However the highlight of the day was seeing a Kingfisher as we crossed the bridge. Very fast but you cannot mistake those beautiful colours

Took a lovely walk alongside the River Calder and back along the Historical Context: The railway in this area was constructed as part of the Manchester and Leeds Railway, opening in the 1840s, with a significant engineering challenge at the Cromwell Bottom embankment. There are also remains of older, disused elements nearby, such as the historic "Tag Cut" of the Calder and Hebble Canal.

I left the longest section until today because of the nicest sections of the canal. I know the Gargrave to Leeds route really well. However it did take longer than expected because of the two punctures. Poor Helena. However ever we changed the first one easy enough. The second one we had help from a passing stranger. We were so grateful. A big thankful to him. Arrived in Leeds after 127 miles over the three days in the dark and it had all got very cold. Thank you to Helenas partner Peter for taking us home

Wow what a day. 10 miles out if Wigan the heavens opened and just never stopped. Several miles of the towpath is narrow rusted groves. They were very muddy and hard work. I was shattered by the time I got to the hotel about 19.30. Well we thought about having an early night until the fire alarm went of at 22:50. There appeared to be one member of staff who ran around the hotel. Turned off the alarm and left us all outside. No checking of guests and the morning staff knew nothing about it. Early night and early start tomorrow 😴
