At this rest area, you can enjoy a sweeping view down to Ribeira Brava, the terraced slopes, and the deep valleys of the south coast. Below you, the Levada das Rabaças winds its way through the landscape like a green ribbon, a reminder of how closely nature and irrigation are intertwined here. The bench invites you to take a break and enjoy a picnic while you soak in the ever-changing sea views, the mountain panorama, and the interplay of clouds above the peaks.

Two concrete tables and benches directly on the PR 17 next to the Levada. On the one side you can hear the water of the levada splashing and on the other side you have a view to the sea towards Ribeira Brava.

Hiking

At the Levada das Rabaças near the Encumeada Pass there are numerous benches available for a rest. Numerous tourists are also on their way to the tunnel here. These are joined by a couple of pushy chickens, as you can see in many pictures.
