The small church was built between 1773 and 1776 by Wilhelm Jeremias Müller on the site of a wooden church that had been built between 1719 and 1721 for the Reformed community but soon became dilapidated. The church received its bells in 1807. With the merger of the Reformed and Lutheran communities, the church passed to the new Protestant community.
After being destroyed in the Second World War in September 1944, it was restored to its original state from 1946 to 1949.
