Hiking

Built between 1647 and 1657, the chapel was originally the seat of the Pénitents, religious brotherhoods that cared for the poor and the bereaved. It was dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, as evidenced by the statue of the saint above the portal. During the French Revolution, the chapel served as a meeting place for a revolutionary club before being returned to the Pénitents. A bell tower was added in the 19th century. From the 1950s onwards, the chapel was used as an event venue and, under the patronage of Pierre Arditi, was revived as a theater in 2012.
