The sculpture depicts an oversized cheese bag, such as was once used in the production of soft cheese, known locally as "keis." This process, known as keisdruppen (a type of dripping), involved suspending buttermilk in a cloth or bag over a pumping station after churning, allowing the liquid to drain, ultimately resulting in soft cheese.
This traditional technique was widespread in Opdorp until the early 20th century, earning the inhabitants their nickname: Keisdruppers.

Since the end of 2024, a locally made cheese called het Keisdrupperke has been for sale. Het Keisdrupperke is a traditional red-smear cheese and is distinguished by a unique brining process and a matured stamp on the rind.

The 'Keisdruppen' refers to the making of cottage cheese, as was done here until the beginning of the 20th century.
By heating milk, cheese and proteins clump together into a thicker substance, called curd. The curd is allowed to drip further above the shelf in a cheese bag until the cottage cheese remains.
