A worthy gateway for the equally impressive old town of Miltenberg.

Churfranken information board a. i.e. main bridgeThe Churfranken brand stands for the centuries-long affiliation of the region to the Electorate of Mainz, recognizable by many local coats of arms with the Mainz wheel. The Churfranken region lies between the forested areas of the Odenwald and Spessart. At a good 50 km, the distances to Frankfurt and Würzburg are about the same. Churfranken stands for a number of tourist attractions and locally produced products. The Churfranken e.V. was founded in 2007 by 25 Lower Franconian communities on both sides of the Main. The aim of the association is to market the region and its products to tourists and to strengthen the name of Churfranken. The 25 parishes
Altenbuch, Amorbach, Bürgstadt, Collenberg, Eichenbühl, Elsenfeld, Erlenbach, Dorfprozelten, Faulbach, Großheubach, Großostheim, Großwallstadt, Kleinheubach, Kleinwallstadt, Klingenberg, Laudenbach, Miltenberg, Mönchberg, Neunkirchen, Niedernberg, Obernburg, Rüdenau, Stadtprozelten, Sulzbach and Wörth.
In fact, "Churfranken" is an artificial creation that was found in 2007 for the tourist association of the municipalities. Since the communities are located in the Franconian part of Bavaria, it was clear that "Franconia" had to appear in the name. The word part "Chur" then came from the story. The Churmainzer family lived here until the 18th century, which can still be found today with the "Churmainzer wheel" on some of the city's coats of arms. And that's how "Churfranken" came about in the end.
