The market place with Schnatterloch is worth seeing in Miltenberg.
In the middle of the market square is the beautiful market fountain, which was created in 1583 by the sculptor Michael Junker from sandstone and is decorated with putti. Beautiful half-timbered houses round off the beautiful picture.
The Schnatterlochturm has a passage to the forest. The path behind it leads directly to the Mildenburg. The Schnatterloch has a hole in the tower from which a water channel leads to the market square.

The historic market square is for me the highlight of Miltenberg.
Here at Brunne, the Schnatterloch, the opening scene and the final sequence of the classic: The Tavern in Spessart were filmed.
Dear audience ... a small donation for me and my animals?
I'll tell you the story, from the beautiful Spessartwald

The Schnatterlochturm at the back of the square forms a passage to the forest. A footpath begins here that leads visitors directly to the Mildenburg. The Schnatterloch itself is a hole in the tower from which a drainage channel leads to the market square.

If you look out of the passage in the city wall to the market square at sunset, the parish church shows in a very special light

Right next to beautiful cafes and a church, the place is ideal for cooling hands in the fountain after a walk. You can go to the castle directly from here.

As if through the eye of a needle, you come through the Schnatterlochturm to the Miltenberger Schnatterloch (mainly known from the film "Das Wirtshaus im Spessart")

This is where women used to meet in the Middle Ages and do their laundry. There was a lot of gossip (chattering) and laughing. Hence the name Schnatterloch.

Careful - the stone path up to the Schnatterloch can be very slippery when wet!
