Bike Touring Highlight
At almost 85 kilometers in length, the holiday route leads through the second largest German wine-growing region. The German Wine Route begins at the House of the German Wine Route in Bockenheim, near Worms, and ends at the German Wine Gate in Schweigen-Rechtenbach on the border to Alsace - or vice versa.

One of our favorite places is the vine arbor next to the house on the German Wine Route. Local winemakers take turns serving their wines here. There are also small snacks.
On certain occasions there is live music and an extended menu such as Tarte flambée or small game dishes.

This is the counterpart to the German wine gate in Schweigen, which marks the southern end of the German wine route. The building, leaning against a Roman fort, spans the street. In the building there is a restaurant, a tourist information office and a large parking lot across the street.
There are also two Kneipp pools on the premises, one for the arms and another for the feet, including detailed instructions. Very refreshing!
