Hiking Highlight
Trulli were originally made by Italian migrant workers from Puglia, who in the 18th century brought the knowledge for the construction of these buildings. Later, they were also rebuilt by local craftsmen. You can find them mainly in Rheinhessen, but some also in the district Bockenheim an der Weinstraße.
At the location of this trullo you have a wonderful view over the Vorderpfalz to the Odenwald, as well as to Ludwigshafen, Mannheim and Heidelberg.

The trulli served the vineyard workers to protect them from rain and sudden thunderstorms and as a shade donor. Here was the place of rest, where the lunch had been consumed.
