Thadenbruch Quarry Lake

The Thadenbruch is a real eye-catcher, not only wonderful rock and crystal clear water, no, also a direct rail connection to the quarry lake. It is really beautiful how the lake of the quarry fits into the forest today.

I have seen these quarries in operation and the men who used air hammers to break the large blocks into small 10x10 granite paving stones.
The granite mining museum next door is absolutely worth seeing. But please make sure you sign up for a guided tour there, as it has no fixed opening times. Swimming is prohibited in the Thadenbruch in summer. Climbers use the steep stone walls of the quarries for vertical rope tours.
