This is the main entrance to the Shanghai Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall and Park. Japan had occupied large parts of China already in the early 1930s, and began its war in China in 1937 - even before Germany started the war in 1939. Many military actions of the Japanese Imperial Army in China have been very gruesome, culminating the in the Nanjing Massacre in December 1937.
