The small chapel of St. Anna stands in the immediate vicinity of the castle, somewhat inconspicuous and little noticed. The chapel, built in 1684 by the Ettal abbot Roman Schretler, is the oldest building in the castle complex. Ludwig II later had the interior redesigned and fitted with painted glass windows. The chapel is dedicated to the Mother of Mary.
