Originally built of wood and straw in 1835 as a residence for the Minister of War. Rebuilt in durable material in 1886. After WW1 the pavilion was converted into an officers' mess. In 1950 it was restored.

Here was the wooden royal palace, built in 1835. It was used as a residence for the king during visits and inspections of the major exercises until 1877. It was demolished in 1913. A new planned palace was never built due to the outbreak of WW1.
