Between Gnannental and Hirschtal there is a dam that is supposed to withhold excess amounts of melting and rainwater, which occasionally form when the soil is still frozen and impermeable.

Here are the hikers on the Albschäferweg way and the group hiking with d'r Gaby and Erich was lucky, that just a flock of sheep was traveling in the valley.

The dam in Gnannental was built in 1958/59 and has never been filled with water. You can sit wonderfully on the long dam and enjoy the view of the Gnannental.

The dam was built a long time ago as an overflow basin to protect the surrounding communities from flooding, but has never had to be filled.
