The names are reminiscent of the neighboring church of St. Oswald and the former Schäfli inn behind the fountain. The statue of St. Oswald - together with the Archangel Michael, patron saint of Zug - was erected in 1771. It was removed in 1883 and put back up in 1915. The paintwork is modern. The fountain was last restored in 1997.
