The Henrichshütte is a great destination. There is a “rat path” for kids that explains how the hut worked and it is also interesting for the grown-ups. The highlight is of course the well-preserved blast furnace, which you can climb up to the top. Tip: Check out the hut's calendar of events beforehand:

Definitely visit: You can marvel at an incredible amount about the extremely hard work in a steel mill. Great old industrial plant: very large cinema

Unique in the Ruhr area: on over 4,000 square meters there are over 50 fire fighting vehicles and rarities from the history of the fire fighting in an old industrial hall of the former Henrichshütte in Hattingen.
The old dream of the firefighter comes true: the rescuer approaches with the rolling red giants ...
A large museum of fire is being built in Hattingen. Fire service veterans since 1942 are ready to receive. Further fire utensils will be prepared and positioned in the coming months.
The FEUER.WEHRK is still a construction site with a lot of unfinished business. Exhibition boards and play stations have yet to be developed and paid for. A foyer and exhibition rooms still have to be converted. It is still an almost untouched industrial hall that once served as a workplace and later as a warehouse.
