Hospital Church with Hospital Gate, Weißenburg

The church and hospital were built from the mid-15th century over the filled-in first city moat. Renovated in the Baroque style by the Eichstätt court architect Gabriel de Gabrieli in 1728/29. On the south wall of the nave is a "Poor Man's Bible" from 1480 depicting scenes from the life of Mary and Jesus. In the choir, there are also medieval wall paintings, high-quality stucco work, and ceiling paintings (1729). Extensive renovation from 1995 to 2003.

The Spitaltor, the church tower of the Spitalkirche, was a gate in the city wall before the city was expanded. After the city was expanded, the gate was used as a church tower. The core of the Spitaltor dates from the 14th century. In 1728, the church tower was raised as part of the Baroque renovation. The octagonal upper floor has a mansard roof with a lantern on top. There is a narrow walkway between the mansard roof and the sandstone balustrade. During the renovation from 1993 to 2005, the tower clock, including the dials and hands, were replaced.
