The old town of Weissenburg is one of the most impressive city centers and monument ensembles in the region. The historic cityscape is shaped by the largely preserved city wall, the Gothic town hall, the town church of St. Andreas and the Ellinger Tor.

The historic old town is extremely worth seeing. For five centuries Weißenburg as a Free Imperial City was only subordinate to the Emperor, today buildings such as the city fortifications with 38 towers and the Imperial City Museum testify to its heyday. The old walls of the city are not only impressive sights themselves, but also offer space for popular and well-known cultural events. weissenburg.de/poi/historische_altstadt-1816

The building was built from 1470 to 1476 at the height of Weißenburg's heyday as the town hall of the imperial city at that time. The Söller was built in 1545. The archive tower of the building was built in 1567. There were several commercially used rooms on the ground floor. In 1805, demolition plans were never implemented. Reconstructions were planned several times from the middle of the 19th century, but they were never carried out either. Extensive renovations took place from 1963 to 1964 and from 2002 to 2004. The building is no longer open to the public. Under the monument number D-5-77-177-258 entered as a monument in the Bavarian monument list.
