At almost 2 meters high, the Lullus Cross is impressive. As a stone double cross, however, it is particularly outstanding. The double cross is the coat of arms of the former Imperial Abbey of Hersfeld and the principality of Hersfeld and is also part of the city coat of arms. At this point, the Lullus Cross marked the transition from the monastery district to the city.
