The tower is 90 meters high and carries 17 bells. Around 1526, the first Lutheran sermon was held in the previously Catholic church.
Outstanding artwork of St. Nikolai is the beautiful double organ on the Sängerempore with its 5000 pipes. The organ work in its current version was made by Arp Schnitger around 1707/09.
