Norderstrasse is a historic thoroughfare in Flensburg's old town. The mostly cobbled street is considered a multicultural "scene district of Flensburg" in which, in addition to the Danish minority, left-wing alternative subculture and a number of restaurants with international cuisine, trendy shops and artists' studios have settled. The New York travel magazine Travel + Leisure voted Norderstraße one of the 18 "craziest streets in the world" because of its shoefiti or hanging shoes.
